I hope someone can find some imfo on my Springfield#1248420 with 4/25 barrel, and has a scope block in front of rear sight. It is also drilled for a scope block under rear sight. It has a dal marked stock, and star on end of barrel. I've owned it since 1962.
Thank's for any imfo. anyone could give me. alb03

#1248420 is not on my SRS list but the closest two serial numbers are #1248414 and #1248429. Both are listed as National Match 1903's. There are a lot of NM 1903's in that serial number range. That and your rifles features sure suggest it is a NM.

The receiver was made in 1922. That's all that I know. It's a Nice looking rifle!

Thank's Fred, I wish they could talk, It's in real fine shape, it would probably say" I sat in a cold dark storage rack for along-long time" LOL alb03

Some of the other guys here are keen on National Match rifles and they really know their stuff. Your rifle certainly does appear to be a national match rifle and is of course mounted for a scope, probably one of those long types by Unertl.

Any chance of this being a USMC sniper?

TDPO311, i HAVE NO IDEA ; It had a scope on it at some time. It has slide marks on hand guard to front scope block; probably a Winchester a5. It's barrel is an SA w/ flaming bomb dated 4/25, a WL3 bolt, and fine checkered butt plate. My guess is that it was used for competitive shooting, and very well cared for. I think a USMC sniper would be more worn or beat up, but who knows. Maybe Mr. Beard could shed some light on the subject? alb03

Unertl USMC rear block would be on the receiver, not on the rear sight base.
