Question about a Rock Island Rifle

I just picked up one with the serial number 399xxx and an H S 5-44 Barrel in a nice Prooved C stock. Could there be anything special here? No rebuild marks. I forgot to mention a J6 Bolt.

Sounds like your typical overhauled rifle. Maybe a previous owner put the C-stock on it. Is it pre-war?

A mix-master rifle.
the receiver, bolt and barrel have been put together after
being reduced to component parts during a rebuild.
How complete is the rifle? Are the parts milled or stamped?
Does the stock have nice stamped inspectors marks?
Sometimes such rifles have more value as parts, others,
more value as complete rifles.
The best thing is to post pictures and ask. Many people here,
and elsewhere have the answers to the questions.

Then there is me, willing to spend too much money trying to
restore a rifle to military dress, just because I fell in love with
it and I think it deserves to be saved for the future!

Mike because of the comb on the stock Id say according to Harrison its a type 14 that is if I judged it right. The pistol grip has no definite gulley defining it and the comb is real gentle. There are 2 "P"s on the pistol grip. This is a military stock. I think its been sanded and got a couple of small repairs in it. I figure it might have been on this barreled action when it left service. Does that mean its a comfortable shooter?

Crash I understand its a mixmaster however many of the odd/mixmaster rifles are military versions not just put together by a civilian. I rather like the military versions. All of the parts on the rifle are Milled, which includes a very fine line checkerd buttplate. If I didn't know better I'd say its a NM buttplate. As well as a 1919-20 NM Bolt. This could be a purpose built gun for a shooting team or something. Ya jus don no.

ncblksmth1, I didn't mean a civilian rebuild,
just what would happen at an overhaul/rebuild.
Yours is a bit newer than mine tho, but yours is still
in military dress, which I am trying to do for my
sporterized find.
As far as National Match, that would be cool to have!
If there isn't a star on the muzzle, is there markings
on the bottom of the barrel indicating it was gaged?
