Anyone else see the movie?
I was not thrilled but not dissapointed. They did a great job with what they had to work with. They should have made a 3hr movie. Instead, they rushed in atleast a little of every main point of the book. The only things they left out were the setup for the brother and sister to become rulers of the superpowers after the war, allot of the game he played in free time and some of the communication with the alien at the end. But, they didn't just toss out inconvenient parts or rewrite the story.
The things I really did like, were that the relationship with his girlfriend went exactly to where it should have. I think he was around 12 at the end of the story and thats about the hand holding level they showed for a minor crush at that age. The battlespace arena was set up almost exactly as I imagined it while reading the book. Usually these are the types of things that are rewritten as unrecognizable by some A-hole who never read the book.
All in all, it was pretty darned close to the book. Worth the time to watch it.
