M1903 Bolt Striker Marked NP

Can anyone tell me what this NP mark on the M1903 bolt striker means? I've not read or seen anything that shows this mark on a striker.

The "NP" is a stamp identifying that the striker was made by North Pointe which was a WWII Ordnance contractor.
