View Full Version : Colt SAA value
Just looking to confirm my opinion. Co workers wife found a Colt SAA in. 357 magnum while cleaning deceased fathers house no one knew he had it. Appears to have been born in 1978. In original box with original paperwork. Box and paperwork in very good condition. Pistol appears unfired but cylinder has been turned at least. Proper grips and all appears right. I estimated value at $2000.00 in our area. I found several listed for 2500.00 and boxes weren't as nice, but no bids. I feel pretty good about my estimate but thought I'd see what you guys thought.

That is a 3rd generation SAA, and the .357 was never as popular as the .45 Colt or other large calibers. If you feel good about paying that I am sure your friend will appreciate it.

Not a buyer not my thing. He just wanted to know the value. I got the impression he was going to hang onto it. Thanks for he feedback.
His was similar to the one you posted but it had the four inch barrel. The box was in much better shape. Is the four inch barrel more desirable or does that matter much. I thought it balanced well. Regardless nice find considering no one knew it existed.

Four inch or four and three quarter inch (4 3/4") barrel? Between the two lengths the 4 3/4 might be a little more desirable, but not to the tune of $600 to $1100. I would say the real buyer's market would be between $1250 and $1500. If they are looking to insure it, $2000 would work.
Okay thanks much I'll pass it on. I think the box said 4 and 3\4 inch barrel.
