M97 Stock Question

Was the round knob buttstock ever used on the M97 Trench Guns? I see them on Riot Guns but don't recall them on the Trench. If so any idea why? I read that on commercial 1897's the cut off for round was around 1910.

You answered your own question. There were no trenchguns in 1910.
