Picked this up at a local gun show. It's a 5 1/4" heavy Taper barrel from late 1951. They didn't make very many of this model with the 5 1/4" barrel. It had an extra set of grips and extra mag still in the box. Here's a couple of pics:

Nice find, those pistols shoot really well too.

A really nice find. Those models were just super accurate.
What serial number range is your pistol? I have one of the U.S. marked 6 7/8" pistols in the 75000 serial number range that was shipped in 1956.

I have a stainless Mk2 Target Heavy Taper barrel that looks exactly like that one.
I've never seen another one like it.

Mine is 28800 range. Ruger site puts it at late 1951. General consensus is the Black Eagles and the 514's didn't start till 1952. On another board, a guy said my pistol
was from 53 or 54. That doesn't match the serial number range on Rugers site. I want to get a factory letter, but Ruger's factory letter branch is closed for a while.

I lettered my Mk I U.S., and knew that Ruger will not tell you where it was shipped. Through a tip I was told to ask if it was shipped to a government agency, and the letter shows that it was shipped to a U.S. government agency, just not which one.

What length barrel on your Mark II? You measure from the bolt face to the crown.

Sorry, just saw your post.
Mine is 5 1/4" tapered, same as your pistol. It's not the longer tapered barrel.
