Just watched "Against the Odds" on AHS last nite. The premier episode was about the Battle for Hue City in Vietnam. I learned so much about this battle by watching it. The Veterans' accounts were compelling, and I could have watched this again right after seeing it. Did not know that the Marines were severely outnumbered during this long battle.
Also learned that the Marines were hampered by "Rules of Engagement" that forbade use of artillery and airstrikes, but that later in the battle, those political shackles were removed and then they put some serious hurt on the enemy. If only we could do that in Iraq and Afghanistan nowadays.
AHS has found a winner in this series. the next show is about US Army Engineers during the Battle of the Bulge.
