View Full Version : 1924 Transition or OG Rebuild
If you had the choice between a rough although original except the barrel and mag 1924 Transitional Colt for $2400.00 or a mint OG rebuild mixed parts for $1350.00 which would you pick?
Thanks, Paul
To me the mint rebuild would be preferable to the rough original. Just my .02 worth. I'm more of a shooter than collector.

It is easy enough to visualize what a "mint" rebuild would look like, but somewhat difficult to know just what condition "rough" is to another person. Does rough mean there is extensive pitting, or just not much original bluing left?
No pitting, just probably 50% finish. Slide and high areas have wore finish, areas protected are ok with some browning. Grip strap almost no finish.

Given the info above, I would pick the rebuild. But that's just me....
"Original except..." + poor condition = no go, in my book. Condition and originality is what carries the day, when it comes to values.
Decide what you want and save up to buy it. You'll never be dissappointed by great quality.
