Where can I find information on the identifying characteristics of the 1919 SA national match? I think I have lucked into a near pristine example.

Thanks

Matt

Mitchell6776:

ViShooter lists the 1919 serial number range as 1055092 to 1162500, all of which are in the Mark 1 serial number range (I think). Your rifle should not have the Pederson device ejection port, it should have a polished bolt. That will do for a start. You won't have a star gauged muzzle, and the serial number won't be on the bolt. Your serial number won't be in the SRS DCM 1922-1942 list, either...............

I'm with you, a really nice 1922 NM just fell into my lap...................

It should also have a black asphaltum coating on the receiver. The inspector cartouche will probably be D.A.L. and the receiver race ways as well as the top of the follower should be polished.

The M1919 NM rifle serial numbers started at about S/N 1087000 and ended about S/N 1093000. That's the approximate serial range without going to look for a more definitive range. If you have a rifle in that serial range, and it's not a Mark I rifle, then without question, it's a 1919 National Match rifle.

And they do not have a black asphaltum coating on the receiver.

Hope this helps.
