Was this a shooting team rifle? Jeez, looks brand new.
15 years or so ago, a friend bought a parkerized model 70, in .30-06 from that era...... wearing if I remember right, a (? on spelling) Kohlmorgan scope ............. I had to work the day of the auction, but I wouldn't have bid against him anyway, he'd lost both arms just below the elbow when a charge quick fused on him. If I get up there, I'll ask my lady to take a couple of pix for you guys & get Red to post them for me. the rifle in question had definitely seen some heavy use & when they refinished it..... they parkerized it & it ended up with that lovely deep green park job...............
congrats on yours & it's wearing that lovely Unertl too.......... ya done good kid.
the scope is the Lyman Super-Targetspot 20x which did not come with the rifle. The trigger is stamped T, I also believe these were team rifles from Great Lakes
I once got a 03 from there in the 60's. cost 12 bucks. Still have it! It was not an auction but they would put up 10-12 rifles a week, had to get there early and get in line! Like 6am. early. A friend also got a Stevens riot gun. Many 03 actions for sale also.
Great Lakes use to sell 1903A3 barreled actions for $10 and 1903 barrels for $3 ea, they never sold any low numbered 1903 actions
