Even if the hammer wasn't correct, wouldn't that be easy to rectify as would be the barrel ? Total cost would make the purchase price reasonable given the auction prices on Navy marked pistols ? You would end up with a straight (all correct) original finish 1911 US Navy for less than $9K.

Just my opinion but I would have liked to have won this one.

Just caught it, but the stocks aren't correct either. With several major parts replaced, that brings the question of how much is original. Soon it will be like George Washington's hatchet; all original except the head and handle.

With the odd angle of the photo of the hammer can't tell for sure, but doesn't look round enough on the end for a Springfield.

JP, what did you see on the grips that caused you to say "incorrect" ? I need some help as they look OK. I agree with the hatchet comparison though.....thanks gb
