Early rifles were marked with the year of production, so many/most Model 1892's are marked 1894 which leads to confusion among those new to Krags and the assumption of a Model 1894.
Thanks, I just wondered because on gunbroker there is a receiver marked model 1984?

At the Michigan Antique Arms Collector's show in Novi MI last weekend, I saw a pretty nice 1892 - marked 1894 rifle with the Under-Barrel cleaning rod. The serial number was (I think) 26XX, although I only got a quick glance at it. It looked all correct to me, including the 1892 rear sight. Price was $1700. I wish I could have had that one follow me home!
If it was an honest unaltered 1892 with the cleaning rod- that guy was giving it away at $1700.
I saw that one and another marked 1900 plus bucks. Did not look at either Just thought these guys were nuts! Did you look at the 1900 dollar one?

No, but there was a guy walking around with one when I got there... it may have been that one. What day did you go? I did see a lot of Krags there!

I've seen people pay more than that for some seriously rusted ones. Those collector types sometimes gotta have that space filled no matter what the condition.
If original 1892 rifles will bring from $5000 to $10,000. Bill Mook told me an original cleaning rod was worth $1000, IF you could find one. I did. I paid $1300 for a rough 1892 for the barrel and front sight. Sold the rest to Mook. 1892 rifles are special Krags.
