I have two buckles that I was wondering what they were worth. One appears to be to be a belt buckle and the other off of a cartridge box ( but I may be wrong). The brass has been given a shine and that throws me off on the age. Looking at the back you see that they are lead filled. So, do you think that they could be real? What may the be worth? The belonged to my father who lived in Petersburg Va. for several years when he was young. He spent the weekends with a metal detector looking for artifacts on a friends land. He is gone now so I can't ask him.

Hate to tell you, but $35/40 for the pair. Those have been reproduced/faked since the 1950's, and still are.

No problem, really did not have my hopes up. Just wondering.

I agree. I still have my set from the 1960s reenactments and they are essentially identical to these. I think it is highly unlikely that they are older than 1960 or so.
