I have a 1896 Krag, 63000 serial range. What is the correct type of extractor for this model? The one with the square, or the slightly rounded profile were the body and heel come together? I've had people tell me the square is correct, and not the rounded, and vise versa.
Thanks, Bob.

You need the rounded one, assuming you are speaking of the profile on the bottom edge, just forward of the pivot pin.

The square one is correct up into the high 3xxxx range, is found mainly on, and is an ID point for, the "1895 Variant Carbine".

Neither of your pictures show the feature clearly - from the angled one, I'm GUESSING it is the later rounded version. Profile is best seen on a side shot with bolt open - sorry I do not have one up and ready to go.

Dick, I was speaking of the profile forward of the pivot pin.
I have a 1895 dated carbine that has an extractor with the square profile, but I had a few people say that would also be correct for my ser. 63000 96 rifle, which I didn't think was correct.
Thanks for the help/info, Bob.
