I've had this awhile and I don't think I have ever posted it before. My friend picked this up in the 60's or 70's and I got it from him. He has a Type 1 that is nicer than this one. And everytime I go over I bug him on selling it. He's about 40 years older than me, so I joke with him all the time that I just have to wait till he dies, and it's mine. lol

But the rifle is all correct. The only thing I question is the 2 rivet handguard but that is the way it has always been.

It's a 6.27 million range and a 10/44 barrel. I know the barrel guages like a 0 or 1, so basically new. And it has one of the nicest M1A1 stocks I have ever seen with no rebuild markings. I doubt it's ever been issued.

I thought you guys might enjoy seeing some pics this morning. :)

Barryeye, you're in New Zealand?

I have a question if you don't mind, do you see much Marine Corps stuff over there? Since that was a staging area for the Marines during the War, I have always been curious if there is still stuff left over there from the war.

Especially the Australian made Marine Corps uniforms. You ever seen those? I have been looking for one for a while. :)

Your right about the hand guard being too early for your serial number. Inland was well into the four rivet guard by the time your carbine was made. Started about June 1944 with the later hand guard. But other then that what one can see from the photos it sure appears to be correct including the type 2 barrel band. You do have a good one.

No that was the one that was in it. It has more wear on it then shows in the pics.

By the way what is the barrel date on it?

I think it's a 10/44 I believe. I will check it in a little bit, and if it's different I will change it. But I'm pretty sure it's a 10/44

That is about right for the serial number so it's original to the receiver for sure. You do have an original.
