I have had this cadet for several years and decided to try to develop a load for it.

With new Winchester Brass, primer drilled to 3/32, 68.5 gr. 1 1/2 Swiss BP, compressed with a Woff die,.025 card, and 485 gr. 20/1 lead Lee 500 .459 bullet.
This is the target I shot at 200 yards with the bottom peephole set at 200. The bottom shot I pulled I am not sure about the top.

The other holes were shot by my son with AR-15 at 150 yards

I was wondering why no one replied to my post. I think 3 of my 4 shots were pretty good.
I was also surprised I could use the 200 mark on the sight to hit at 200 yards.
Maybe I am not posting right.

Oh you are posting OK. The fact that you could hit the target at that range using original sights is very good. My 1884 rifle shoots 12 inches high at 100 yards so I have to put another target 12 inches below to use as an aiming point. My rifle has the buffington sights too.

I'm just now replying because I haven't been here for a while. good for you. Great target and isn't it wonderful when the sights match the load. I love my cadet but then I love my 1884 and 1888 as well.

I like that you were shooting at 200 yards. sunday I had a great day shooting steel pigs offhand at 100 and 150 meters and then I made the mistake of shooting for groups on paper at 200 yards. The sights were on but I wasn't.

Seeing the 5" circle at 200 yards was not as hard as seeing that little front sight with the pep sight way out there. I have had cataract surgery and the front sight blurring out on me. I believe the front sight cover really helped.
