View Full Version : Krag trigger pull
Does anybody have any suggestions on "smoothing" the trigger pull on my 1899 carbine. It seems to try to "stick" before the last breaking point. It is shooting some nice groups but I think I can really tighten them up if my trigger was a little smoother.
Is there something I could here at home to smooth out the pull?

A word of caution here... If you're intending on shooting it in any CMP sanctioned events, your trigger pull can't be less than 5 pounds.

Have you cleaned the firing mechanism really well? In my experience, Krags typically have very nice triggers for a military rifle. It could be you just have some crud in the system.
Paul et al:
The minimum trigger pull weight for CMP games matches is 3.5 lbs. I am not certain where that number came from, as the minimum pull for both Krag rifles and carbines back in the day was 3 lbs. Just another one of those "quirks" of CMP "as-issued" rules, I guess.

Sorry Bob... my mistake, I just re-read the rules. I got the Garand (which is actually 4.5 lb) mixed up with the 03 and Krag. Good catch on my error. :)
Thank you Liam
I finally got around to installing that that trigger modification suggested by Parashooter It works really well.
