I'm going to look at 2 1917's,1 is Eddystone with a Johnson barrel and the other is a Remington bult in transiton with a few Eddystone parts. Are the Johnson barrels any better than the rest? It is $150 less than the Remington..Thoughts ??? Thanks...
but they're as good as any 1917 barrel, if in good condition. If you want a shooter, pick the one with the best bore condition.

I purchased an Winchester 1917 with original barrel in rough shape. I purchased a 'new' JA barrel and replaced the original winchester barrel. From the bench at 100 yards I was shooting 2-2.5 inch groups with the new JA barrel. Sometime later I came across a 'new' Winchester barrel and replace the JA barrel. With the 'new' Winchester barrel the group size was unchanged. I don't see any difference in accuracy between the two although the Winchester barrel (1/19) just looks better.

Jacketed or cast? Cast sized to the throat should shoot half that size if not better.

Well,I'm the owner of a Remington 1917 dated 1/1918.It has a couple of small Eddystone parts on it.The barrel looks unshot, throat measures a scant 1 1/2. A nice matching walnut stock with nice cartouches.
I took it to the range yesterday and it is a great shooter.Nice pattern at 100,then shot the gongs at 300,400 and 600 yrds.I went out 1000 yrds and the wind had picked up enough that I kept either just hitting the bottom or the right edge. After 10 rds,I was satisfiedit shot.I put about 60 rds through it.I have to say though,it must be the drop on the stock, but the butt plate just hits on the top of the shoulder
bone and now have a abrasion...I used a towel for padding after about 20 rds....Still enjoyed her.....
Shot my first "100" at 100 yards at the West Monroe military vintage match with my Remington 1917 with JA barrel this last weekend. Really nice shooter.
