My friend has a WRA garand made in June 1943. It is all WRA except the barrel (SA 52), wood and gas cylinder WW2 bayonet (10") and sling go with it. What would a fair asking price? Thank you for your reply.
How bad do you want it? It's most likely a rebuild several times over and while the Winchester script looks neat I wouldn't pay a lot extra for it.

My friend wants to sell it and needs a fair price. It has gone thru rebuilds and he added over the years the 'correct' small parts.

I think they were what $800 when they were sold here recently thru the CMP as a service grade. Say an easy $100 for a 10'' bayonet, and the sling is something I don't consider adding value unless it is a 1907 sling.
I would probably say right around a $1000 give or take depending on condition and the guage of the barrel.
Broomie, don't listen to the naysayers here. It's a Winchester and it IS special. Get it.
Granted the most difficult parts are not there, still it's a great work-in-progress and you can enjoy it while searching for the remaining parts. In my case it took me nearly 15 years to get a WWII WRA barrel but I have one on my WRA now. I am thrilled every time I pick it up and "fondle" it.
A starting price of around $1,000 sounds right to me.
