This is what my follower looks like with the action open.Is it a problem?

Picture did not download.The follower is higher on one sde of the reciever.

Hard to tell with no picture. Does it feed properly? Does it shoot or jam when firing? Could be welded receiver, worn follower, worn receiver. If it shoots fine, don't worry about it. If it doesn't take to a 'smith.

Looks fine to me. The follower should slide from side to side. Put a little white lithium grease on the sliding parts.

same here, looks normal, it's not tilted at all, one rail is lower then the other. like mayer said, it does need some grease though.

You don't grease the rails that ride in the receiver channels, interesting. I guess it really doesn't move that much, hmmmm

On the Garand, you should apply white lithium grease to any parts that slide, such as the follower (rails included), op rod where it contacts the receiver and bottom of the barrel, etc. A lot of people have received Garands from the CMP and they arrive bone dry (my brother-in-law included)... and then they wonder why they don't operate properly. I apply the grease to the bolt lugs and trigger group too. Never fire a dry Garand Rifle!

But I still grease the recesses that the follower rides in, was taught to do that.
