model of 1911 u.s. amy
ser no8918.

its parkerized and well used. i used this as a kid, and when my father passed i ended up with the colt. so my question is, is this a 1913 pistol? or 1912? and does this thing have any value? i cant seem to find much history on the pistol. pistol is all original it was purchased through nra back in the 50's. overall in pretty good shape. the mag was stolen along with some other items a few years back. mag had the loop for a lanyard, also had the knotted rope too (long gone now).

thank you for any help on the subject.

Dino,
What you have is an arsenal refinished pistol. The frame was manufactured by Remington UMC in 1918. This can be determined through the serial number along with the "EEC" (inspector Edmund Chapman) stamp. The slide of course is Colt due to it's markings and probably from that time period as well. These two pieces left their factories (Colt & Rem UMC) originally blued however when these parts were married up possibly pre WW2 the pistol was then parkerized. The grips for the 1911 were originally double diamond wood grips but after the slide and frame were married she received a new finish along with WW2 era late Keyes Fibre grips and an arched MSH. No telling what barrel she is sporting, you'll have to break her down to verify that. Being that she is a mixmaster with no original finish I'd place her value at $1,000 - $1,200. I'm sure others will contribute their opinions...........

I think John covered it very well.

Since the frame is a Remington UMC, that is what the pistol is, regardless of what kind of a slide it has. The frame was manufactured in 1918.
