Father-in-Law is visiting and I took him to the local gun show where he was looking for an '03. There were only two on the floor, one was a 9 of 17 (blued) for $1200 and a '43 rebuild for $1700. When we got home I took out my A4 for him to enjoy and thought I post a few pics for the crowd since I haven't been around here in years. One of these days I'll need to find the right M73B1 for this rifle.

Shoot? You mean I'm supposed to shoot it? No idea, I've been so busy with work it sits in my safe. I'm going to have to rectify that issue shortly as I did find a M73B1 and can think of no better reason to head to the range. With that said, I'm sure it will end up being next year...

I know there's been some questions on whether the M-8 was period used, but a few years ago I was in touch with a guy in Holland and he had a A4 with a M-8 scope he got from a neighbor who had said he had found it hidden in his barn after some American paratroopers were captured on his property. He was a very knowledgeable and credible and respected collector and who also researched battle areas trying to recover remains of soldiers to turn over to the government and the families. Ray

Thanks for the reply. I've read a number of threads about the M-8 and thought that while it could have been a possibility for an early configuration A4, one in my serial number range would be better suited with the M73B1.

Agree, didn't notice/pay attention to the high serial number, Ray

Found this M73B1 and will be mounting it and maybe even shooting it!
