This rifle was purchased from a friend around 1990, I did change the early WW1 bolt with a NS bolt. The barrel is SA 7-29 with an excellent bore, the receiver is without the Hatcher hole. The stock has the DAL. cartouche and P proof, I really like the buttplate - which I would hope is correct for this time period ?

Thanks for sharing!

Your rifle was made at a time when Springfield was no longer making new complete rifles. All barreled receiver assemblies were used to replace the barreled receivers of low number rifles turned in for overhaul. So virtually any combination of parts made prior to the struck serial number can be considered correct. The nicely-checkered buttplate, therefore, can be considered correct.

Thanks again for sharing!

Do I see it correctly that the bolt is a USMC bolt with electropenciled serial number on it?
