Fourteen years ago I purchased this in West Virginia. Mr. Canfield at the time documented it was correct and original. Due to a divorce I was forced to sell just after purchase. Last month I was able to get her back. Today we had some nice weather so I took some pics. I set one up as a screen saver.
Serial range is E930XXX, stock is WB stamped. Gun was shipped to Pearl Harbor in 41. That was also the story that the original seller told me that his Father had appropriated 3 while stationed there. I was just very fortunate to get it back at the same price he paid in 2001!

Beautiful Bruce. Nothing beats a short barrel shotgun for attention getting. Many years ago, at Qtown, I needed to get into a basement that housed a small armory. When I beat on the door the security racked a shotgun back and demanded to know what my business was. Told him that it was nothing that would not keep until morning. That is a sound that you will never forget once you hear it. Again nice piece

Thanks Smokey. My Son and I purchased a box of Winchester AA low recoil skeet loads tonight to try it out over the weekend. I have to admit I have never shot one. You are correct the sound of one of these racking would deter me for sure. If you recall the building number at QTown let me know and I can go by and take a pic tomorrow. Might bring back some fond memories.

Thank you all for the comments. Yes the friend that sold it back is just that. We have had an arrangement where we have bought and sold to each other for close to 20 years. Always at the same price. So my Son shot it today. 1 box of AA loads. Destroyed a watermelon and numerous beer cans. He turned 13 August 28th.

Thanks. I don't want the thread to drift. He is 13 and soon to be an Eagle Scout. Stand's 6ft 1in and 180 at this time. He carries himself like my Dad. Great personality, easy to talk to and very respectful Thinks of grades before sports. Plays basketball and does community service at the local animal shelter.
Our family came over during Jamestown. We are Virginian through and through. Had someone in the Army all the time with the exception of the Spam Am War don't know how we missed that one. Last 4 generations retired from the Army. If it works out he will be the first Officer in our family. I'm not pushing by any means. But he is looking at West Point and VMI hard.
Learning French at school and on his own time because we are planning a trip to Europe for the WW1 Centennial.
Yup he is a great Son and I am so proud.
Best part he is so into History that he knows more than most of his teachers but they love that and are not disrespectful but taken back.
If he not sure to get into West Point, have him take a look at the US Merchant Marine Academy. Possibly a little less competitive to get into than WP, it IS a SERVICE ACADEMY, and upon graduation he would automatically get a commission in the Naval Reserve, HOWEVER, he can choose to accept a commission in any of the Armed Forces - Army, USMC, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force. All service academies work that way.
