View Full Version : Tpye 1 NewZealand Carbine
I picked up a 1901 dated type 1 New Zealand stamped carbine this week. I have no LEC's in my collection so this is a welcome edition. New Zealand rack number is 162. Receiver/barrel serial number is 619. DP marked like most were.
The good/ Wood is generally in good shape with normal dents and dings. Top hand guard has been repaired but cracking again. Finish is good with some patina. Gun cycles and passes head space. Stamp on buttstock still visible.
The bad/missing sight slider, rearsling swivel and unit disk. The barrel has pitting in lands from corrosive ammo.. Bolt mismatched like most with a 1400ish serial number.
I'll post picks tomorrow.
So this is not going to be a shooter. The top handguards are non existant and I don't want the repair to crack anymore. Do you think I could find the correct rear sling swivel and sight slider for it or are they rare to....and if I could should I put them on or leave it be,

I resized all the photos so hopefully downloads will be alright. The metal is well oiled and the bluing looks better in photos than it really is. Any thoughts or observations.
All my enfield collectors must be out drinking beer again. Bump
