View Full Version : Bought WRA oprod off ebay!
Looked real good, paid 260 delivered. I stand up oprod in one corner of bench. Have 3-4 loose. Left feedback about nice oprod. A few days go by and noticed rod is 1/2" shorter than others. WTF? Figured it is for Navy .308! Sent email to seller, On cmp forum as slickwilli420. Since I did not purchase for .308. And it is reduced value credit me 75 and I will keep it, otherwise I want a refund. Seller refused and now I have to dispute with ebay. I posted this on CMP and seller states it works fine. All I want is my money back. This POS is refusing. I will post his name pending outcome.
Never ever give Feedback until you are absolutely sure everything is OK. I have gone weeks before I give FB. Once you do, you are just about skkreewed.
I doubt Ebay knows what you are talking about. They claim the Buyer must be 100% satisfied so keep trying.
Matt esterline absolutely refuses a refund. I am posting his name on all the sites. Just a liar and thief!

I've sold a lot of parts and I would have never even thought to measure the length of the op rod. I didn't even know they made them shorter. With that being said, I would just have told you to send it back. If it was same condition as it left, I would refund all money without hesitation. And I would apologize that I didn't catch it.
Our names and reputations as sellers are way more important to me than a couple hundred bucks.
It hurts nothing to take it back in my opinion. You still have the part to sell and you might not get as much for it. But your reputation is intact and you can sleep at night. :)
If paypal won't do anything for you. If you paid with a credit card through paypal, you might be able to file a report with them as well.
That might be an Italian oprod for the Tipo II. Getting something like that is like getting a welded up demilled garand...only the welded garand probably works. I'd shout his name from the rooftops too.

I had an off topic thought . If one of these short rods was installed in a Garand , would it work ? My thoughts are about the gas plugs with a chamber relieved which increase the size of the gas chamber and therefore reduces pressure , allowing commercial ammo to be shot . Would this not do the same thing ?

Nope, it will fall out of the back of the Gas Cylinder. the only thing it works with is the "Italian .308 conversion"

Or contact Mike at Colombus Machine (614.409.0244) to see if he can cut a piston that will add the half inch back to the overall length. If he can do it, you will have save an op rod!

Just curious, is a .308 conversion op-rod only one half inch shorter?
I thought the conversion made the rifle over one inch shorter.
An op-rod for non-converted .308 M1 is the same length as for .30-06 M1.
Perhaps your op-rod has simply had the original piston cut off and replaced, I suspect it would function just fine.
Dean, I bought a tanker from you about 4 -5 years ago. How much are the rods cut back for a tanker? Dave, Now that I am thinking, more like 6 years ago.

From what I am told a .308 oprod is the same length. Only the Italian oprods were cut down.

If a new .308 barrel of original length was used , the rod would be the same .
If the original barrel had an insert installed , the rod would be the same .
If the original barrel was cut down on the backside , rechambered and rethreaded , the rod would be shortened by that amount . About 1/2 inch.
If a tanker was made with an original barrel cut back at the muzzle by 4 inches (?) or a new shorter barrel , the rod would be 4 inches (?) shorter.

The Italian conversions are 1/2" shorter, they took a standard barrel and shorten the barrel, the op rod and the stock. If you use a aftermarket barrel such as Criterion, the op. rod remains untouched
Issue resolved, EBAY is forcing seller to grant refund!!!! Even after I left POS. feedback!

Maybe this time he'll advertise it as what it is. There's no doubt he knew and found it to be a bit of a white elephant.
I know, lucky I am getting a refund! CMP mods stopped him from selling unless resolved. I know that put xtra pressure on him.
Just heard sarco sells the 1/2" short oprods for 80.00 Beware the market will be flooded with shorts!
