Evening,

I am curious about what type of finish my Colt has?

http://www.csmilitaria.co.uk/viewphoto.php?x=1

http://www.csmilitaria.co.uk/viewphoto.php?x=2

The finish doesn't look parkerized to me, considering the parkerisation of the pistol below:

My bad. The images on the shop's site are copyrighted.

I will post them tomorrow when the gun arrives.

Best regards,

I was able to bring up the pictures but still try to get some more up close and detailed pictures. It's very hard to give a very accurate assessment with the pictures given.

Much appreciated.

Is there a certain size/format that this site cannot take for the images ?

It's okay if you click on above links. That opens a blank page and then you can click on "Go to Shop" to see gun listing.

I get a page for C.S. Militaria with 1500 entries. What number is the pistol, or why not just post photos of the pistol?

It has recently been removed from the shops site Johnny P; effort appreciated though.

Appreciate the information all, but, here we go. Finally figured it out ! I should know about this as well; I am an I.T. Administrator!:icon_study:

I have removed the red paint from the sites. To be honest it didn't look good. It was easy removed with my thumb.

I know a bit about the gun. I believe it is one of the older type 2's with the line under the o on No. I am a bit confused about the serial number however as it doesn't match some of the information I have found on the net with regards to certain information and when certain parts were changed on what type serial numbers of the guns. I suppose they only roughly guess when certain things were changed at what serial number.

There is a "p" on the top of the gun closest to the first sites which I believe make it a field action gun.

I also believe it is Dulite color?

I have also checked the serial number with colt and it states 1943 dated.

If you require more photos let me know.

That is an Ithaca receiver with a Remington Rand slide. It is too late for a military Du-Lite finish.

Ah not good. I suppose a full part pistol would cost a small fortune.

What finish has it got ?

Much appreciated.

Really hard to tell.

Agreed. A great example of "drive-by" photography. Would probably get better results and better replies with the pistol stationary and the camera coming to a complete stop. :)

p1987,

It is difficult to verify finish from most pictures. However, it looks like it might be hot tank blued, without much preparation (possibly over part of an old finish).

LOL. Well, I thought my photos were good quality myself, I would consider it more art than photography though mind ;). Would I pass A level photography with the below ?

Any news on what finish this could be gents ?

When I click on the image to enlarge it, it takes me to a site where the photos of the women are as large at the photo of the pistol in question. From what I can tell from the small image the receiver is possibly the original phosphate finish, and the slide has been polished and hot caustic blued. Definitely not the original or military finish on the slide.

Much appreciated all.
