Greenish M1 UFH

One of the guys at the gun club showed up today with a bayonet that came from the estate of a WWII vet 20 years ago and he asked if it was a reproduction.

I should have photographed it but didn't think to. It has a greenish finish that is very smooth, kind of an olive color, very different than my parkerized UC in both in color and smoothness.

Has anyone seen this before?

It's a reaction of the preservative to the Parkerizing solution I think. We've seen lots of rifles that are like that.

I'm not saying that everything packed in cosmoline got this greenish tint. But every metal item I've seen that acquired this tint had previously been stored in cosmoline.
