View Full Version : Garand restoration
I recently acquired a International Harvester Garand that was apparently imported into the country through England about twenty years ago. It is a correct rifle except the stock. The problem with it is that the previous owner "prettied" it up by removing the parkerizing and bluing the metal and refinishing the stock. Any recommendations on sending the rifle out to get it restored or leave it alone as a shooter.

Getting it Parkerized will help the overall value, in my opinion. Dean-DGR

I agree with the above, except if it was a "Presentation Rifle" a lot of them were blued with fancy stocks. The CMP had one on auction a while back. Believe I saw one at the NRA Museum in Fairfax Virginia
The early Winchesters were not parkerized - didn't you read Canfield's book ?
