Win Model 97 Tench Gun

I acquired this gun a while back from a friend who collects them. He had acquired it in a trade and didn't need it. It was my first 97. The butt plate has a spot broken out of it, but other than that, it's pretty nice. I'd still like to acquire a nice, original solid frame version.

No, not intentionally, anyway. Besides U.S. and Axis pistols, I've collected a few U.S. rifles over the years. I've always liked the trench guns, but have always been preoccupied with chasing pistols. I sometimes find myself buying my way out of a show where there weren't any good pistols to buy. That's how I acquired 2 of the 3 trench guns I have. Rather than looking to branch out, I'm looking to limit the number I own to just one more. Obviously, there are many more variations of military shotguns...but I'm still primarily interested in the handguns.

Hello Tom, I just purchased an m97 at gander mountain in the used gun rack the day after Christmas. It is a US stamped gun and is serial # 681533. It appears to be a WWI issue gun. I can send you pics if you send me an email at mmmoparjep@aol.com
