Question on flip sight and band, real?

I posted this on the CMP forum, but thought I would check over here too.

I picked up a carbine and I think it's possible the band and sight have been changed.

With that being said if changed, my first thought is repop parts, but I'm on the fence with these being fake or real. I see some things I like and some things I don't. The S on the sight looks off to me compared to my others, and the staking doesn't look 100% right either. And the band, I'm not sure of either. But I'm more leaning towards the band being real.

Can I get a second opinion please, real or not? If fake I have a return policy. Thanks guys.

Well the flip sight is a fake for sure. The band appears to be parkerized. All original type 1 bands were blue.

Yeah it's for sure parked. Do you think it's a repop too Tuna, or just refinished?

That is an untrue statement. Plenty of originial type 1 bands were parkerized, in fact more were parkerized than blued.

So what do you guys think on the band? I had a 1.4 Underwood at one time that I believed to be original and looking at the band, I believe this one might be original, just changed. I'm curious what you guys think on it?

An early Underwood in the 1.3 million range like this one, the band should be Blued not parkerized.

They sight is definately fake, Not sure about the B-band. I can't put my finger on it, but it doesn't look quite right to me.

cplnorton, Since everyone seems to be weighting in on this bbl band, I'll give you another opinion....or two. Check out C/C newsletter COM #226-3 reports, UEF 1,363,506 bbl band is parked "med gray" in color.
Also, seems I have 3 originals, 1,372xxx, 1,373,xxx, and 1,375,xxx that have parked "medium gray" bbl bands................

I finally figured out what is wrong with the band. Look at the screw. There is a sleve on it or elseit is too large diameter on the shank. Not original in my opinion.

Optical illusion sir......... Better go back and look at the first 5 photos. Agree, the last photo is a little confusing.

If one looks close at the band and the swivel, then the different shades of gray appear. Not the same color as the barrel and the swivel is different from the band and the barrel. Also the swivel appears to have a sand blasted surface that was then parkerized.

I think the band has been refinished as well.
