Hello
Have a chance to buy this re blued stevens 520-30, has nos. matching barrel , receiver, trigger group and buttstock, it's in the 50,000's range. Missing heatshield, but appears legit , would like some opinions of value an authenticity.
Thanks for any help

Barrel proof is on the wrong side for a trench gun.

I think you should save your money for one with original finish. They are not that hard to find, even at a reasonable price with some patience, and even if you add a handguard to that gun, it will never look right. The re-blue is too distracting from the rest of the gun.

I think the barrel proof IS correct, but there should be one on the other side also. If the price is right (5-6 hundred bucks maybe), and you're happy.
In that condition they're fun shooters and a great for home defense. My 2 cents.

So for $200 I should be okay, I also do rust bluing and plan to give it a flatter finish.

Buy a repro handguard and get the whole thing parkerized. I did that with a commercial model and it is a real cool shooter.

For $200 it's a steal! Hell if you want to make 100-150 bucks let me know!
