Anyone have any thoughts about these new commemorative Remington UMC 1911's for sale? Seems they are making only 1000 of them. Remington enlisted the assistance of Turnbull, and they look really nice.

Greater fool theory? Perhaps the photographs are too clear but the stampings really look fake (ie: Not the way they look on "real" 1911s), no?

Yeah it's a pretty gun... but $2500, seriously?

This is the problem with replicas of vintage firearms. They usually cost more to make than they're really worth to sell, especially if you get Turnbull involved. If this pistol was only $1000 like the recent Colt O1911/O1918 replicas I'd be interested, but not for that much.

BTW, for $2500 I'd also expect them to at least cut the cocking serrations correctly, instead of 1/8" too far to the rear like they did.
