I have for sale an early M1873 "Trapdoor" Springfield rifle. It appears to be correct and maybe original. It has all the early features such as the 1873 dated lock, coarsely checkered hammer, two notch tumbler, 1873 dated high arch breech block with the eagle head over the crossed arrows, short comb-long wrist butt, faint ESA in the oval cartouche, early M73 rear sight with the slotless screws, one piece front sight, and the early M73 cleaning rod. Bore is about a 7 out of 10 with fine pitting. Some wood chipped off on the right side along the barrel and some one's initials on the right side off the butt. Also has some interesting unit markings on the top of the butt and the buttplate. Not much original finish with some areas of pitting. I would like to get $1,000.00 or I will consider offers. It is of course an "antique", and can go where ever legal. I have other pictures that I can send to an email address as it seems that I can only use 5 in the ad.
