29542I am offering for sale one of the "Red Star" Remington 03 Modified rifles. These rifles were English Lend Lease rifles imported in the 50's by a US Army officer who was also a competitive shooter. They do not have the English proof stamps found on all other Lend Lease weapons. In addition they still had, when imported, the red band of paint marked .30 to differentiate from the .303 British round. The previous picture shows how the rifle appeared when I bought it. The cosmoline and straw were part of the packing material used by the British when they shipped them. I have other, more recent pictures of the rifle available at rick.tubb@verizon.net. Unfortunately, I cannot make the attachment feature work to put them into this ad tonight. Disregard the pictures below. They are of another rifle with lightening cuts and no grasping grooves. I cannot make the attachment feature remove them.
The rifle for sale has a red band of paint just behind the upper band with a black 30 painted over the red. The visible modifications from a Springfield Armory rifle are the elimination of the lightening cuts from the rear sight base. The rifle still has grasping grooves in the stock unlike many Remington Modified rifles.
Rick the Librarian knows a lot about these rifles and took the pictures for a Man At Arms article a few years ago. I will gladly supply a copy of that issue to the buyer.
Price is $3500 shipped in the lower 48. 3 day non-firing non-disassembling other than field stripping inspection. I limit it because the red paint band is still intact.
Please send questions to rick.tubb@verizon.net.
More pictures on request.
First "I'll take it" here wins.
