Having been an Army MP, this one kinda appealed to me when I saw it and read the documentation. It was reported lost in November 1945. Obviously, it was recovered. It was sold in 1961 through the DCM. It went through August Arsenal sometime after WWII where it was refurbished and stored until sold.

BTW, APO 846, in 1945 was Fort Buchanan, in Puerto Rico. If this pistol could talk, perhaps it would tell its story with a little Spanish accent and a lot of flair! :)

So, someone was trying to steal it and got cold feet? Or was it sent to AA and not properly relieved from inventory? What do you think.

I don't know how or when it was recovered, just that it was and then later rebuilt.

A unit in 3rd ID in the late 1990s had an M9 turn up missing and it took the entire Brigade being locked down in the barracks and motor pool for several weeks before it turned up again.
