Count the grooves in the wood grips. That can tell you something interesting about the bayonet. My 1912 bayonet has 33 grooves. Sorry, forget what that means or where I found the info.
Having some problem in the reply - but I did count the grooves and came up with 35. The early wood grips had 11 cutter passes per inch and by 1917 this was changed to 7 cutter passes per inch. Late replacement grips are marked inside with the drawing numbers C64036 (right grip) and C64037 (left grip)
