Anyone have any luck in filling in Scope mounting holes, and if so, did you reheat treat the receiver?

TIA

If it were mine, I would run in some headless screws, the threads coated with Loc Tite and then file and emery paper off the heads until I had a perfect match with the contour of the receiver. After that, re-parkerizing the receiver should completely hide the screw holes.

Of course, reparking the receiver would probably destroy any "Collectors Value" but with the screw holes in the receiver, the Collectors Value is probably already gone.

Oh Yes, while I am thinking about it....If you have a Low Number Receiver, Springfield Armory decided a long time ago that re-heat treating the receiver did no good what-so-ever. In other words, don't shoot it!

Chuck-in-Denver can do that.

You cannot reheat treat the receiver. Fill the holes with plug screws(ask your local gun shop. They're kind of pricey from places like Brownell's.). Any collector value is already gone.
These.

Try ebay bought them before a lot cheaper If you do it right it's hardly noticable

You can get a blue touch up kit and be artistic and cover them well without having to redo the entire receiver. I've done a couple came out great

Thanks the screws sound like the best solution. I wasn't trying to keep any collector value, it's gone already on it.
