Howdy All
I just picked up a nice M1 built around a Navy 7.62MM barreled receiver.
I understand that it's best to shoot 7.62MM ammunition in these rifles.
Any favorite brands?
I am looking at the Federal 7.62MM loading.

As long as the commercial ammo duplicates the M80 ball and the M118 & 856 match round you should be great to go.
Did a M1 in 7.62 and Bruce W., of the DCM VAN did the barrel and as what chamber type, he recommended the standard 7.62mmNATO chamber. Great suggestion and I have a tighe shooting 7.62 M!.

You're going to be very happy with that rifle and caliber combination I think. I would say it all depends upon the rifle; each is unique as to what it shoots best. My experience has been that Federal GMM is very good. USGI M852 or M118 may also do well in your rifle. Have fun and good shooting!

Thanks to all. May order a case of Federal M80 from CMP. She's soaking up linseed at the moment.

The best M80 ball that I have ever run in my M1 7.62mm rifle has been Canadian IVI 68 and 69.
