I just received my catalog from Rock Island Auction. In April they will be auctioning a M1 garand serial #58. I would guess that rifle will go for 5 figures. I assume it came from someones collection, but whos? I will at least go to the pre-auction viewing just to touch it. 8-)

If RCS says it's not correct then I have to believe it's not correct.

The rifle is in NO WAY correct . It MAY have all gas trap parts but they didn't use a straight cut op rod until 1940 and the receiver was built before 1937 , so it cannot be correct........ Bid on the parts and the serial number not a correct rifle.....I believe the ONLY model shop part is the receiver . Paul "Bubba1"

Agreed. Later gas trap parts on it, pretty plain to see.

The first 80 rifles were "Model Shop Rifles" and went through numerous changes during the development of the M1 Rifle. The receiver heel markings of the first 80 rifles were different from the production rifles beginning at serial number 81.

The description does not say it is correct , for SN 7 , just a model shop receiver and some gas trap parts.
