Before I purchase one I have a question or two. These rifles come without a bayonet lug. Can an original M14 suppressor w/lug be fitted to these rifles? How difficult is the install, how much money for parts and how to be sure everything is lined up OK?
Thank you

Yes, Not very, $45-$50, Look down the barrel. A pair of flash hider nut pliers is helpful. Try Amherst Depot for the parts and tool. Regards, Clark

Keep Shooting has a milspec flash hider, installation tool, and magazines for the M1A. Prices aren't too bad. http://www.keepshooting.com/firearm-accessories/m-14-m1a-parts

Major, go to you tube and look up tonyben's videos on the m14/ma1. He has a video on the flash suppressor. I see that Tony has joined us on this site as well as the M14 forum.

Get some help and shop yourself a good M1A from the 70's -early 90's anyway. Probably better build, better parts (USGI).

A friend had an M1A that would get erratic on him. I surmised that the bullet was nicking the Flash Suppressor occasionally.

I pulled it off, took a drill and opened it up a few millimeters. To be totally correct, I then ran a rag through it with Blue/Black bluing.

He never had that problem again.

On the range at Ft Dix in 1969, shooting m-14's, DI went to clear the next recruit in line next to me
and asked him if he had any problems shooting it.
1 prong and the front ring were gone from the flash suppressor. I have no idea if it was metal fatique, cracks, or bad ammo.
If you got for N.O.S. flash suppressor make sure it's safe to use.

+2 on the James River Armory/RockOla recommendation, forged receiver with an awesome "M14" heal stamp and super nice people to deal with.
