Gents,
No pictures yet but I hope to get some sooner rather than later. I'm looking at a RIA 1903 with an S/N in the mid 300's (don't have it right now and don't remember the exact S/N) with an RIA marked barrel dated 1922 (forgot month). I'm wondering about the stock. It is a straight stock, 2 bolt with no proof P or inspectors stamps. It does however have the Ordnance shell and flame on the nose. In reading "Rock Island Rifle Model 1903" by C.S. Ferris on page 74 under Sub-inspector Marks, it is stated (or at least I infer) that a correct RI stock may be marked only with the shell and flame. I realize this may be tough without the photos, but based on the description above, I'm looking for opinions.
