Actually, you were fortunate - I was giving it strong thought and I knew of at least one other who was, as well. Nice rifle with a correct stock. I already have #1294444, or else I might have made more of an effort. Let us know what the bolt marking was - I was curious, as well.

Nice find!

Very nice find, Rick and I were seriously considering it. But after that LN1903 RIA I found left me strapped.

glad it went to a good home, congrats!

thanks for the comments..after watching other high number 03's with many more issues go for the same money or more, I was happy to get it for what I did..Happy hunting!

I wouldn't necessarily throw the J5 bolt out. Nice rifle!

I plan on keeping it, and may just leave it in there as it is a double heat treated bolt.

I'd leave it on the rifle.

Congratulations on a very nice find. You might, however, be surprised as to what has flown "under the radar" on Gunbroker. For example, an 1868-dated M1868 .50-70 trapdoor (1 of maybe 200) for half price; TWO of the 100 26" barreled 1902 Board of Ordnance & Fortifications trials Krags, both for a small fraction of their worth; and, most recently one of the trapdoor "long range" .45-80 rifles for approximately 1/10th its' true value. The bargains are there - you just need to know what you are looking at. One of the Krags was obtained for 1/8 the estimated worth of its' rear sight alone!

I agree - while most things don't fly under the radar, a few things do. "Knowledge is power"!! :)

You made out like a bandit!

I did not get the long range - but, guilty on the others. :-)

Its' starting price was over $1000 - my ceiling for checking anything beyond the title. The seller photos were terrible; Frank had a good eye!
