I bought one in an estate purchase. Are they military?. This one has “US” stamped on one side of receiver and what appears to be a Defense acceptance on the other side. Also appears to have TWO different serial numbers.
I will attach photos.
Thank you in advance for any comments

HS apparently did make up a small batch of trench guns (30-50) in the early 70's in hopes of a military contract, which never came about. Is yours one of those, or commercial HS model dressed up to look like one?

That's what I would like to find out.
In my opinion totally fake probably made by the guy on Long Island.

I have found fewer than a dozen samples sent to RIA and Crane NAD in the late 1960's. To date, I have found no sign of any in the early 1970's. High Standard shotgun production ended in February 1977 with the move to East Hartford.

3,123,805 shipped as a catalog number 8104 on 3/7/1972.
A 8104 did not have a heat shield from the factory.
The order this shotgun shipped against was for 200 catalog number 8104 and was sold to the Detroit Gunsight Co. in Grosse Point, MI and was shipped to Police Training- Detroit Police Department. Detroit, MI.
I suspect that the Detroit police made the modifications.
