I'm working on parts for my replica USMC M1903A1 Rifle "With Unertl 8x scope". I have seen pictures of how the trigger guard/mag well assembly was machined at their mating surfaces to give more clearance before it bottomed against the reciever, and also it appears some material may have been taken off the reciever as well.

Since I'm trying to get everything as correct as possible to see what the rifle could really do "as built", I need to know how much material to remove so the stock will be clamped under the same tension as an original. I can see how if you removed too much you might, in theory, cause a feeding problem with the follower catching in a too wide gap. Can anyone shed any light on these dimensions from an original, or article?

Thanks! CC
