On the CMP forum there was a good discussion that started over the flat back follower arm. An arm that is not really rare but it is not very common and was only used for a short period of time on gas trap rifles. I thought I would share part of the discussion on this forum. First pictures are of three SA follower arms, all early gas trap variations. A SA double bevel, a single bevel, and a flat back as they are identified by collectors. The middle picture is a SA single bevel follower arm followed by two WRA follower arms. The closest WRA arm is an early one used on very early rifles (15k?), note how it has a profile of the early SA's and is sloped (goose neck) and does not have the sharp dip after the pinion. The last picture is a close up of the profiles of the two types of WRA arms, early and late. Note that WRA follower arms have a much bigger bevel and that the feet at the bottom pin hole are flat like on a HRA/IHC follower arm. Maybe one of the more knowledgeable posters will add usage ranges to the post. While I have notes and books, I will most likely get it wrong so I'll leave that to others to debate. And if I got this all wrong please advise, forums are for learning.
