Depends on what you are looking for. There appears to be quite a bit of wear to the grips and the lanyard loop is missing. Also to my eyes, the metal finish appears to be worn as well, maybe refinished, hard to tell from just one pic.

If looking for just any old 1934, it would suffice, but for that sort of indiscriminate use, $400 seems high. Post war commercial guns can be found cheaper and in better shape. If wanting a decent WWII era gun, recommend you pass even if it costs you more money. If wanting a gun for self-defense, recommend you look at a new or near-new gun made for that purpose by Ruger, Kahr, S&W, SIG or even Glock. I would also add that the new compact 9's are as small or smaller than the 1934, and a lot easier to run.

You can probably find a decent WWII era gun for $400 - $600 or thereabouts, even off Gunbroker.

The Beretta 1935 is the same pistol in .32 ACP. These were used by the Italian Navy and Air Force while the model 1934 was made in .380 for the army. The model 1935 continued in production until about 1955. Last year I bought one in near mint condition with a box and holster for $450 on Gunbroker. These are very well made pistols, easy to disassemble and a lot of fun to shoot. However, they are strictly range toys and I would not recommend them for personal protection. The safety is in an usual position and is awkward to disengage.

Looks quite worn so $400.00 seems high to me. If it was me and I wanted it I'd offer $275.00, perhaps a bit more. Check the barrel and if it's sewer pipe walk away.

I have a parkerized 1935 made in 1944 with the 4UT markings. It's really a nice pistol and I was at $450 plus actual shipping cost if you are interested in seeing pics.
