This is a Springfield M1D. It is the sniper version of the M1 Garand. Although there is no CMP paperwork available, all parts are guaranteed to be proper for this rifle and USGI.
Except from a few clips to check for function, it has been sitting in my safe for abput 12 years or so. The scope is an original USGI M84 with worn finish from handling and use. There are a few black flecks in the scope reticle, which is common. The eyepiece is intact and the sun shade operates properly. The stock is USGI Springfield and matches both defect-free hand guards nicely. It is has the non-serif P on pistol grip and is RA marked (Raritan Arsenal) and under the cheek piece; showing that it has been through the rebuild process.
Barrel bears the number D7312555 A178B (under the rear hand guard) with the Crossed Cannon cartouche – as is correct for the M1D. Barrel date is S-A-10-52 – again correct. Bore is bright and chamber is ‘in the white’. Lands show almost no wear and the crown is superb. TE measures less than 2.0 and MW less than 1.0 on a Scott Duff gauge. Operating rod is a cut 9 SA. Rifle shows some legitimate use (no abuse) per surface wear. No import marks, of course. Entire rifle is tight. The M37 Flash Hider is also original and correct USGI.
If seriously interested, please email for additional photos,
Overall this is a great rifle and wonderful piece of US military history. Reasonably offered at $2,600 314103141131412
