Hi all,

I am somewhat confused.

For a first run M1A1 paratrooper carbine stock, I am looking for the correct rivets for that time period.

Should they be the copper type, the steel parkerised type, or are both possible?

I was Always convinced the steel ones were first, but I found some conflicting info posted on the boards.

What do you think?

Thank you!

Stijn

I do not know which came first, but the copper rivets were actually break rivets 7/5 which is the rivet size. I would also think the steel rivets came later. As the gearing up for war needed brass for ammunition. This is similar to the M1907 slings going from copper to steel frogs.

Both type steel and brass rivets are correct for an M1A1. It was what ever was on hand at the time. During rebuilding both again were used.
